Being back at work after my week off is interfering with my model building Chaps, but I have another week off next week for my birthday, so should be back up to speed.

I have covered the aerofoil, the rudder and fin, and started on the wings. The wings have to be bound to the cabane wires, so the middle section will have to be covered last, that should be interesting on the underside................crying

Had a go at making some markings out of tissue, not too bad but I put one in the wrong place and had to move it, hence the rustic look... laugh

Also got the next one on the way......

The Fokker D8's glide test was the best so far, just had to add a bit of nose weight, around 4g.

The Cessna is coming on too.

I split the rudder on this one, by adding two extra stringers.

img_20200628_235648.jpg

The cowl was a useless fit in the front former, it was way too small, so I added a slab of 1/4 balsa and sanded a good chamfer on it until the thing fitted. you can see below, it doesn't come any where near it.

Some little embellishments in the covering to keep it interesting. I also swapped the rubber motor for some better stuff. just the screen to do and that's it

" hence the rustic look"

No, it's "authentically war weary" smiley

Loving the DVIII yes

They don't make them like they used to!

Great build again, Dwain.

... but then, the main question remains: what's next now??? ...

... what about a Guillows DC3? ...

Cheers

Chris

Thanks Nigel, you are very kind. wink

Chris, I have always wanted to build a DC3/Dakota/C47..........I almost got the T.N. one a while back but I had too many models in the workshop and garage.

I have looked at the Guillows one, but I think to make it fly would be a total trauma.

As a static model it would be nice to build, as you can add a load of scale detail, without the worry of snapping bits off by flying it. It can be bought for £75 from model shop Leeds.......Tempting..... I would not blast thru the build on that one tho, it would have to be a slower assembly.

Wings being glued on the Cessna as we speak, I had to remove some tissue to facilitate the joining, this was in the plans but I thought I could get away with it by using skewers, which only partially worked......Hey Ho !!

Pics later as I'm off to buy dog food and some pigs ears...............(to go with the one I made of the wings....LOL)

Everything glued on and tissue reapplied to the centre section, and a bay in each wing.

Last few jobs....fit the cowl and the struts.

I fitted the cowl and then realised I had not added the ballast to balance, so off it came (luckily), 6 grams of blu tac added, and back on it went. A modicum of down and right, and Hey Presto.

Glue and cowl. Plus the glazing is in too.

Another one ready to go.

Struts fixed and covered.

This one is finished now, so all I have to do is wait for a decent day, or until they have finished putting the new Astro turf on the field at work !!

It's A Boy !!!!!! party

I was bored waiting for the glue to dry on the Cessna so I built this cutie..60% ...8" span. I split the rubber down to 1/2, so 3/32 wide.
