l12fly, I came close to being scammed by a similar scam, some 3 to 4 years back.

I received an Email purporting from I think Asda. As one of their valued customers, would I help them by completing a short survey, with a the possibility of winning a MP3 player.

I took and complete the survey. I was also lucky enough to win a MP3 player. All I had to do was provide my details. Right at the end of the process I was informed all I had to was to pay for the P&P. At this point I lost interest.

I then received a Email telling me I had to provide my card details. This was followed by more intimidating Emails that I was contractually obliged to provide the details demanded. Following Emails informed me that I would be prosecuted for breach of contract.

At this point I went to the police, where a fraud department informed me to send a Email stating that I was terminating any contract that they thought I had with them under some distance selling legislation. I them received more Emails telling me I was being taken to court, unless I immediately compiled with their demand. The police told me that I would have to attend any official court. As non attendance would have a judgement made against me.By now the police knew where and who the company were, based in Birmingham. I was informed that I should not inform the company that the police were involved. I sent another Email stating that no contract existed between us, any contract that they believed there was being dissolved.

I should add that contacting the Supermarket the survey had nothing to do with them. WHAT A SURPRISE.

I finally received an Email acknowledging that no contract existed.

At this point I was given a police case/crime number and told that the case was solved. To be fair, the police help was very useful.

It appears that the company, was imposing an obligation to purchase a certain number of purchases via the conditions of trading tick box, Thankfully they never got my details, nor had I got to the tick box..

I had exactly the same thing as EarlyBird, I went onto the Dec/Jan page. Thought it was a Forum message so opened the message and it said I would be entered into a draw for a Samsung S20 phone if I completed a survey. I don't do surveys (only do the RCM&E polls) also I've just had a new phone so went no further.

These are Google ads most of which are high quality, AA for example, I was suspiciuos due to the poor quality of the page I was linked to.

My conclusion is that the scammers have infiltrated Google ads. Can this be true and if so can these dangerous ads be stopped on the forum?

Yet another one: message received from DPD regarding a parcel delivery with an incomplete delivery address. I couldn't remember if I had ordered anything (it's an age thing!). The odd thing was it was sent at 02:45 this morning demanding that I respond before 5th December or the parcel would be returned to the sender. It then required me to fill out a Google registration form which I declined to do. Checking the web address showed that it must be a scam. Refer tot he DPD website for more information.

Beware.......!!

Dave,

Too late I am afraid it asked me three questions which I answered wrong and I still won.

There was a time limit that was counting down and I had to be quick or I would lose my chance, unfortunately by the time I took my chance my time had run out. Strangely it allowed me to continue.

It's all very dodgy in my mind.

What are they going to get out of this?

I think at least a postage charge for a prize that will never turn up or a bigger prize for them bank details.

I have asked for the link to be removed, but tried it again and it took me to a different page. Very dodgy!

Be careful everyone.

I've removed the link in EarlyBird's post but left the image for information.

From an earlier post, it seems that there is a tiny bit about paying themonthly fee for the mobule phone, about £49 a month.

They will be in for a dissapointment if they try that because I have a different card now

Just had the DPD one asking for payment for rescheduling delivery, needless to say I didn't. Had a Belgian email address.

Yes, it's an advert box linked to Google. It has been there a long time and tends to appear on some pages spitting up a random selection of things. Needless to say, any of the offers and enticements you may see are nothing to do with MyTime Media, RCM&E.

I've asked if this can be removed from the site in the past and will ask again.

Following on, Sam, our tech guy has added....

Our hosting company does run scans etc and have not seen anything their end.

I would still recommend people run **LINK** on Chromebook as it does not have any built in Anti-Malware/Virus software, this pop-up does sounds like adware to me which is a little different to Malware/Virus.

But I've sent him the latest reports to look at too.

One thing I always recommend is installing "ublock origin" into your web browser. In Firefox via Add-ons, for Chrome put it in the search panel and the website will turn up and allow you to install it. I think it is in by default already in the web browser Brave. It is reckoned to be the best of the ad blockers.

A bit of great news after that scam of the Google phone prize.

As I reporrted they had taken the pound from my account before I got may card cancelled.

I just checked my account and they have refunded my £1.
