"Reality" TV shows! Especially anything with the word "celebrity" in the title!

I watch TV to escape from the dreariness of "reality". I don't want "celebrities" taking me back to a "reality" from which I'm trying to escape!

Definition of a "Celebrity": Someone famous for being famous!

Save the planet. Is what people say.

The planet has been around for some 4.5 billion years and according to professor Brian Cox [ and others ] it will go on existing for about the same again until the sun becomes a red giant and swallows it up.

I guess Save the human race does not have the same ring to it.

But it. is the human race that needs saving [from its self ]along with many of the plants and creatures that live alongside us.

........Specifically the BBC insistence on "balance" leading to them giving a platform to minority view nutters during programmes like question time. Whereby they end up being far from balanced. Sort it out, BBC, due to the unique way you are run (theft) I pay for a lot of that programming.

The BBC's idea of balance:

Soldier F trial; Peaceful protests of 25000+ in various cities and towns around the UK for a couple of weekends on the bounce, a trial with far reaching implications which highlighted shady past government deals before the introduction of double jeopardy. Coverage- Zero.

Other violent, criminal and unruly protests at the same time. Coverage- Wall to wall 24/7.

Notre Dame Cathederal also at the same time; Unfortunate and of interest but makes not a jot of difference (nor ever will) to the average person living in the UK. Coverage- 24 hrs solid, reducing over the following days.

God bless 'Auntie'.

On a similar note, I despair when programmes or interviews pontificate on the causes of Global Warming without ever touching on the fact that there are three times as many people on the planet as can be sustainably supported in the long term. I suppose that global overpopulation is the elephant in the room, unfortunately in 50 years it may be the only type of elephant left. Unless we bite the bullet and take steps to drastically reduce the population "we're doomed" (said in a cod Scottish accent with apologies to Private Frazer). I shall stop now as I am in danger of exceeding this month's idiom quotient.

I have been saying for some time that the real problem is overpopulation.

Possibly the Covid 19 pandemic is the worlds first attempt at reducing population!!

Not too successful, world. Try again World!!!

I do it often on forums and when trying to attract the attention of groups because its a neutral term to address the audience.

There may be an eerie, uncomfortable truth in that Peter, Mother nature is the ultimate power and decider of the balance, we can battle as much as we like to fight her but she always wins.

People who generalise, most of our armed forces are under 45, Snowflakes they ain't, most of those out grafting, keeping us all going are under 45, snowflakes ?

Overpopulation ? Elephants in the room ? Most of the excesses carried out by our species, are carried out by a small percentage, reduce the population will solve little unless we remove those who's greed is doing the damage, how you like that analogy ?

It ain't my fault Guv, It's those Poor folk, they breed like flies ? You are wrong, but It is an often quoted untruth.

John,

It's the "Poor folk" who also see overpopulation as the elephant, I'm not rich, I'm the same class as you.

A family of 8, small home 1 car, can't afford holidays, eat to live, no dining out, use as little energy as their money will allow.

A family of 4, wealthy 4 cars, motorbike, big house, lights/heating on all day, holidays aplenty etc, etc, etc.

Who's doing the damage, the Elephant is a smoke screen, a fraud, a lie.

Using extremes doesn't prove a point, they're also a smokescreen, fraud and lies.

Excess can be curbed, population growth can't.

In the short term, the family of 4, in the long term, the family of 8 unless they forgo having children and do not aspire to being wealthy.
