Rans S9 chaos

I have started the build of the Rans S9 all is going well.

I have managed to source enough balsa to complete it !

Great!! I shall be watching with interest as I always do.

It's also very fast! I have the parts for mine but haven't started yet so I'll be watching with interest. Once I've sorted my Flair SE5a (almost done) I can carry on with my Li'l Cub (about 50% I guess) and then the Rans S9 Chaos will be 'on the board'. I already have a suitable motor/esc in stock.

Bit of a dilemma re canopy frame.

Instructions in RCME build article says to make 4 frames.

Instructions on plan says make 3 x 1/4 wide.

Side view of fuselage shows them to be about 1/8 wide.

I am confused

Make four. Originally I planned to use one where the windscreen joined the flat portipn on to of the wing. Then I realised that it would be easier if I had the one at the rear of the windscreen. This was because I was screwing all the panels down.

I hope that this clears up the confusion.

I am making four as suggested 2 x 1/4 wide 2 x 3/16.

The wider ones will support the centre section and the others the front and rear sections.

The narrow ones will be chamfered to accommodate the angle of the screens.

THat is right. IT works well. Trust me

Model is almost ready to cover.

I have looked at the photos in the RCM&E and you seem to have a pretty decent pilot in your model can you tell me where you got him from?

My pilot ws a series being made by a chap on Ebay They are absolutely amazing with every tooth in the zips shown.

They were expensive.The tradgedy is that the chap stopped making them a few years ago. I bought about 6 of them at the time.
