I have recently finished building Cyril Carr;s kestrel, there is a discrepancy
between the CofG shown on the plan i.e between zero &1 inch from the L-e
and the build instruction which says 1.3/4 from L-e. Has anyone out there solved
this riddle. ( Are you out there Cyril ??)

Hmmmm.

Was this information forthcoming?

This information would be nice, as I have just decided to build one..

Have had the plan scanned at the local print shop. Makes building so much easier when you have 2 copies to go from. One to build on and one for refference.

Have you flown yours yet?

to Kevin, re Kestrel
Hi I have not been able to get the information re CoG and have set mine up at 1.3/4in
from the leading edge. I have attempted to fly twice but the wind has been a little too strong
and the model has blown over and broken a rotor blade. I think this may be a weak point in the design and. think a length of piano wire set into the L/E of the rotors may be a good idea.
I am also going to try using an aluminium  hub in the shape of a cross as I feel I will be able to make a more positive and accurate dihedral and angle of attack to the rotors

This is far as mine has got so far. I like to make a kit of parts before comencing the build.

Good luck with the maiden. I think the wire idea may add to much weight to the tips but may be worth a try.

Keep me posted.

I don't remember where I set mine but the critical thing with autogyros is to make sure they hang nose down when supported at the rotor hub(s).

If you buy the ebay item, can you tell us whether you receiver a photocopy or the original item. Thanks, it's just that there are a number of ebay 'copiers' around

Update.

"Wing" completed. The blades have been painted a matt black and will be covered with "Poly-C"

The grunt will be provided by either an old .35 OS MAX or a not quite so old .35 OS Max FP..

Done a little more on her today.

The blades have been painted matt black and given 2 coats of Poly-C.

The wing has been covered. Yellow Solartex.

A question for you all to ponder.

In the magazine article and on the plan it tells you to build two sets of blades, one the mirror of the other. So when you put the rotors on the wing, which way should they rotate?

Did that make any sense..??

Hi Martin,
have placed some pics of the Fuzs building sequence. Hope to finish it in about 2-3 weeks. Thanks also to Kevin, his photos are being a great help.
Has any one flown it yet ?
