Hello all, does anyone have any idea where i can source good quality 'blue foam' or extruded polystyrene for wings and fuses?  Ive had a ratch on the net for an idea of prices, but cant seem to find any information.

If anyone has any going spare, please let me know.

Thanks,

Shaun

B&Q do a pink / orange extruded poly but you have to buy £20 worth.  You do get 5 blocks of the stuff and it is good.

Ours has it in the outdoor section with the wood and bricks.

How could you tell?  Ive got a few lost foam fuses for PSS and a plank in the pipeline, and want to crack on with my Jart. Long time no see BTW, are you getting much time up here lately?  Theres been some excellent flying recently with all these NW winds.

Thanks for the balsamart tip, will take a look,

Blue foam is made by Dow Corning, it is an insulation material. Called Floormate X200.

You can buy an 8' * 4' * 2" sheet from "Sheffiield Insulation" for about £11.20.

I had to take a panel saw with me to cut it in half, so as to get it in my car. I found all model sources very expensive.

I have found that it can be finished with Glass Cloth and Wickes water based varnish to obtain an excellent durable finish.

Anyone know where I can buy a single sheet of dow corning bluefoam in the Swansea area.please? A Cardiff co. wanted £35.00! I'm using the B&Q white foam (£7.00,8x4) at the moment, but it won't shape/sand like a finer bubble foam, such as pink or blue. Den Moran

Have you tried "Sheffield Insulation", it is a Dow Corning Product (the blue stuff) and is sold as "Floormate". Although the same product was sold in the past for walls, other materials seem dominate in this area now.

Hi Shaun, Keep an eye on the builders skips. It is astonishing what gets thrown away.

In my area the most common insulation material being thrown out is Kingspan type insulation, which is totally useless for us.
