On sunday I suffered two problems with a plane made from depron both times it was around 150' away about 30' up turning to the left of me and I lost control. I was wondering if the postion & set up of the receiver might be the problem, there is a carbon rod running across the wing above the servo's & around an 1'' behind the servo's towards the rear. The ground range check was OK .

Cant quite make out from your image but looks to be the antennae orientation at fault. Try them fixed firmly and perpendicular to each other.
The longer antenna appears to be just hanging out.

The longer antennae was fixed to the nose section untill it hit the ground & broke off, thats why its hanging loose.
