In another thread we were discussing the GeeBee racer. Some thought it was "cute", some thought it beautiful, yet others thought it ugly. Now we all know that beauty is subjective - one mans beautiful aeroplane is another's monstrosity!

So what's your personal favourite? What aeroplane have you always admired the lines of and thought "Wow, that's one beautiful aeroplane".

To start the ball rolling here's my nomination - the F15

Interesting choices!  Personally I wouldn't consider either the F15 or F4 as "beautiful" aircraft - both are very functional,  any elegance there may be is possibly more noticeable with the 15 than the 4.

But it's very much a personal thing as BEB said.  My choice(s) are probably boringly conventional.  For the modern era it's got to be the Concorde.  For WWII the Spitfire and Mosquito and between times the Hawker Hunter.  And on the subject of the Hunter,  something that people often seem to disagree about,  I do like the Miss Demeanour colour scheme.

Fits perfectly into the predictable and "boring" category I know - but undeniably a most beautiful aircraft.   It can only be the graceful Spitfire.
Number two and 3 etc get harder ( like naming your favourite 5 films etc ) but certainly on my list would be the F16, Concorde, and perhaps oddly the Browne monoplane.

The Hunter has to be the most beautiful jet fighter ever. Just perfection.

The Spitfire as the most beautiful piston engines fighter. With the Mustang and Fw 190 as close seconds.

I would put the Monocoupe 90 very high on the list of beautiful aircraft from the 30s

Nah, Hawker Sea Hawk, Hunter and another vote for the F4. The Spitfire and Mosquito also get votes of course, but so does the de Havilland Rapide / Dragon

I think that the Lockheed Constellation was one of the most lovely aeroplanes of its day . It just looks right -very aerodynamic .

DH Mossie, BAE Hawk, Avro Vulcan, for 'powered' a/c
Fox, Discus, and 'cannot decide' for pure flight.
Fournier RF5, Grob 105 for 'in-betweeners'!
(edit to correct from Grob 115, that's the plastic two-seat trainer  which is almost a Fourner).

DH Mosquito ar the Hawker Hunter. Especially with the Miss Demeanour's colour paint job. The Victor easily beats the Vulcan and most others for looks.
