It could be one of those assymetric things I reckon for going round in circles ! You remember those speed control liners don.t you ?Well it could be an RC version in biplane form !
(plans ain't what they used to be )

Well the build has started, first the formers, alas cutters could not produce before christmas so a few hours of patience with the scalpel and fret saw was required.
Formers were printed onto sticky back paper then stuck onto the wood for cutting.
Well the first 3 formers fit ok
and fortunately so did the others, infact a perfect fit so far.
Doublers added with multi coloured pegs while glue dries.
Finally first of the stringers fitted and the shape is starting to come good.
More soon
Lindsay

Woo, making good progress Linds - at this rate we'll see it down the field before the New Year hangovers have fully cleared!

Got a bit more done today
Just a few stringers, top section all completed and has now defined the shape, couple of lttle mods done from original drawing but generally everything is fitting as it should.
Internal 1.5mm sheeting added to create the door. I have since change to a square frame to ease construction and reduced the height slightly.
The trickiest bit is cutting out the apperture, the sheeting keeps the longerons in position but you need to carefully cut through. I used a hacksaw and rasor saw for this.
Door sides added and first two sections of 3mm sheeting to the forward cabin now in place.
so far so good, Lindsay

Late night last yesterday setting out the main fuselage windows and a fresh scalpel to cut them out but pretty pleased with the result, now to duplicate on the other side.
Oh well back to the building board

Lindsay,

To copy that use a transparant piece of plastic sheet, place that on the site you want to copy.
Trace the edges you need to copy and cut out the opening.
You can trace that again on the other side piece of sheet.
And there you have it two identical sides.

Peter, you know what its like you draw these things out and then change it as you go, the idea was to extend the rear stringers at discreat regions forward across the cabin area just to add a little more character. They may disapear yet but admittedly does look a little odd at this stage. I may just use 1.5mm balsa strip to exagerate the stringers forward but we are some way off that decision yet. Was has become apparent is how much of the internals are going to be on show. I feel an interrior may now be necessary.

Peter, yes the Spartan was part of the inspiration but with a less radical design to the wing tips.

Managed a few more hours this morning so got the cabin roof done and made a start on the fin and tail fuselage sheeting.
3mm balsa frame the slots for fin and tailplane and add aditional glueing surface for the sheeting.
Fin is from 6mm medium sheet and slots into position
Building this wy allows me to cover the fin and tail plane prior to gluing in position.

more updates soon
Lindsay

Looks really nice, even though it doesn't have enough wings. I may still be tempted....
