what I thought was interesting was the roll - it looked to be a rudder roll more than an aileron one, and the spin appeared to involve a lot of aileron input.

It is what used to be called a 'barrel' roll and keeps positive G on the airframe all the way round. Note the continuous up elevator
I think he actually misjudged it a bit as it looks like it started to stall on the exit (1:15) and had to quickly take off the elevator to recover.
