We all know about the air museums at Duxford and Old Warden, and because of the LMA event at Cosford each year many will have visitied the museum there. But I wonder how many have visited the RAF museum at Hendon, North London?
It is a wonderful museum, with a large number of aircraft, many of which are the only survivors of their type. It is housed in modern buildings, the aircraft displays are well thought-out and beautifully presented. And it's FREE. Parking is P&D but even that is remarkably cheap at £3.50 for 6 hours - and you'll need a few hours to see everything. It's not far from the bottom end of the M1 and A1, so access is relatively easy too.
If you'd like to see a Fairey Battle, Hawker Typhoon and Tempests, Bristol Bulldog, Beaufort and Beaufighter, Me262, Me 109F and G, Supermarine Walrus and Stranraer flying boats, and many many more - this is the place!
