OK, its time to start the process of selecting the model which will form the basis of the common build element of this year's Mass Build.

We have 8 nominated and seconded contenders:

Matador
Gamie
Super 60
Elf Bipe
Galahad
Mini Tyro
Kwik Fli
Astro Hog

Note that these nominations include all the variants, at different sizes etc., of the basic model.

Now obviously we want to do this in a way that keeps as many folks as possible "on board". Eight models is a few too many to make a straight choice from really - so I'm going to propose a two phase voting system.

In this first round you can vote for up to four models. All your votes carry equal weight at this stage. We'll add up all the votes for each model, eliminate the bottom four and take the top four through to a second round of voting.

Please note: votes only on this thread.

I will open a chat thread to run alongside this one where voting can be discussed, supporters can "lobby" for the model of their choice and voters that are unsure can ask for further details on the nominated models etc.

So, off you go - vote away! Four votes each!

Hi, I haven't contributed to this discussion elsewhere so i hope it's ok to chip in now! First choice for me has got to be the Mini Tyro - looks great and hopefully perfect for my first attempt at a build. Second choice is the Astro Hog.

Mini Tyro.

Interestingly (perhaps only to me?), I was digging through some old mags & came across the 45" version of the Tyro given as a free plan in December 1966 RCM&E. It was just called the Tyro, (not Mini) & was for escapement driven single channel (or lightweight multi-I wonder what counted as lightweight then?) & shows a Frog 100 diesel as the power.
It will be interesting to see what differences there are on the new plan-looks a nice model in the video.

(the mini tyro was originally as 32" version of the tyro. First published in 1970).
