Hi,

I've got a bent up Parkzone Sukhoi looking sorry for itself in its box and was wondering if the electronics might make for a good fit in them S-Pou. Does anybody on here have any experience of the Stevens Aero range and what are suitable power plants?

Robin I think the Parkzone kit would be fine for the S-Pou if you look Here it describes the gear required I am pretty sure this is the gear used in the Parkzone models, I remember Nigel Hawes building one of these a few months back and am sure he used the gear from a Parkzone model, perhaps someone can remember the issue

Robin,
I'm currently building the Stevens Aero Liddllerod
They are great kits, designed for the gear out of the Parkzone Ultra Micro kit and the Sukhoi gear would be perfect in the S-Pou.
In fact, that is exactly what I've used., and also a couple of other guys at our monthly indoor meets have done the same.
I'm sure you wouldn't regret buying one of their kits

If I remember there is a build and review in one of the RCM&E mags,If I get a chance I will look it out for you and let you know.
The Sukhoi gear is ideal for it.

Found that artical on the S-Pou.If you can take a look at the Fly Elictric column in the March 2011 RCM&E on page 52 you will find all you need to know about the gear and how to fit it.
Hope this helps, if you can't get the artical let me know and i can work something out for you.

Gah - internet broken all weekend, had to do house stuff instead!

Stephen, thanks for that I'll dig out some back issues and have a read. Have to say the Liddlerod is a pretty little thing as well, maybe my Micro Cub could be persuaded to give up its innards as well!

Yeah, they are all great, the problem is once you get started it's hard to stop!!!
Micron Radio Control have everything you need and great advice if you are stuck with anything.

Nice job Andy!
As the old saying goes, 'If it looks right it will fly right.' This looks very good indeed,,good luck with it and look forward to seeing some shots of the S-Pou when it is done.

That looks lovely Andy.

I'm now trying to resist the temptation to canabalise both my dead Sukhoi but also my working Piper and buying a couple of the Steve Aero range!

Must finish this funfighter first, then I think one or more of this range will be next.

I've got a Diddlebug that's ready for covering - I'm using the recommended GWS gearbox.

Lovely build, I'm really keen to build another Stevens Aero design.

Andy -
Looks really good. I've just started building the S - Pou and completed the fuselage. What covering did you use on the wings?

John,

I did indeed, and both the S-Pou and the Liddlerod flew beautifully, and I was very pleased with them and would recommend them to anyone.

You do have to remember, however, that they are lightweight balsa structures, and are somewhat less resilient than the foam models. Both picked up minor damage, but also both were easily repaired (a matter of seconds with some cyano)

I also maidened the Farman, but that appeared to have massive CoG problems, despite being balanced at the recommended position. As I have no more indoor meets until October, I will not bother with that until later in the year.

Andy
