Well I'm 40 today and was not expecting anything other than my fav choccys that the kids get me..
Well I had mentioned that I was thinking of upgrading my TX to a DX8 a few months back.
Well today the Mrs said we where going out for lunch with family which we did. What she didn't mention was on route we would be stopping off at my LMS which she had already spoke to and we picked up:
A DX8, some fuel and a new Glow stick then we popped in to North Face to get me a new jacket for these cold winter months, much better that the jackets at Tesco's
Well I wish I was 40 every year.

Well a very happy 40th to you MikeS, and what a lucky boy you are. My ex would never buy me anything RC orientated, that's why she's now my ex lol.
Have a great day.

Happy 40th Mike - my 40th pressie (16 years ago) was a days instruction in driving formula first and touring cars at Oulton Park. Trust me - aeromodelling is a much cheaper hobby than racing cars..
It was a good day though
All went downhill after that though..

More than 20yrs ago I had a ride in a hot air balloon for my 40th. It was wonderful - what a way to travel!
Have a good day Steve - who knows what this evening might bring!

Many happy returns. SWMBO will not buy me anything model related for my birthday. she will however give me an amount to spend sometimes! She always says she will get it wrong if she buys it!

Firstly, to MikeS - Happy Birthday young man! Hope there are many more to come.
Martyn - that sound rather similar to my 40th, though mine was "only" 14 years ago. I had a day at the Nigel Mansell racing school at Brands Hatch - a couple of sessions in a touring car then the Formula First after lunch. Great day! I also got a half-hour flight in a Robinson R22 down at Shoreham. I have video evidence of my attempts at hovering somewhere. If I feel brave one day I might put an edited version of it on youtube ..
For my 50th I had an hour in a Eurostar microlight (gorgeous little plane!) flying from Eshott in Northumberland. I even got to land it twice (and no, I don't mean I landed once and bounced!) The instructor must have been a brave man!

Happy 40th B'Day, can you feel your sore back? starting to nod off during the afternoon? getting a little harder to read the print in the instructions of your new transmitter? forgetting where you put the car keys? little kids pointing at you and saying to their mum "that old guy has a new model."
Welcome to the fold.
