Here are the lower and upper centre sections. I have put basa triangle fillets in most of the outside ribs for strength. Also my Hanger9 1/4 scale cub pilot has arrived. Very good deal from here.

Looking at the pic of your pilot, are you planning on having a full depth office for him? This is not something I thought about during the build but really wish I had, not sure I can remove the false bottom and rails now dont know

Began building the tail. I followed the instruction booklet and now wish I hadn't. The book said put leading and trailing edges down and cap strips and add the ribs. I then noticed after everything was glued that the ribs have a profile on each edge. I should have put the ribs in centrally and then put the cap strips on after the fin was lifted from the boardcrying.

Still it wont be very noticable as it is on the bottom.

Picture shows the rough fin ( it will be sanded!!! ) and the start of the elevators. I will be making the elevators as one then splitting them.

If he's anything like mine, not quite long enough! His twin brother who flies my Cub for me must have been modelled on a very small pilot as he only stands15 inches high, which if my sums are correct, means that the model must have been a rather slightly built five footer.

Having said that, he does come at a bargain price and is fairly realistic looking - as are the Hangar 9 wheels which I adopted although I found it rather too easy to roll a tyre off on one wheel cross-wind landing practice so made some aluminium hubs with bigger flanges.

He looks a bit lost in the Cub's back seat so if anyone knows of a source of a slightly bulkier gentleman at a reasonable price I'd be grateful!

Built the elevator as the storm blew on Saturday. As you realise I am building all the main components then dry fitting to get some idea of where the COG will be. If all goes according to plan, ( which it usually doesn't ) I want to put a servo in the tail with a hatch. This will run a short link to the hidden elevator crank as per original. The elevator joiner was improved from plan (T8). A second pair of triangle fillets were cut and 1/8 balsa sandwiched between the two halves. This will provide some decent glueing and pilot holes for the joiner.

The servos in question will be 2 x Hitec 625 for wings, Hitec 645's one each for rudder and elevator. And a Futaba 3003 / 3001 or similar  for throttle. 75lbs nylon coated fishing trace wire for closed loop

003.jpg Elevator showing the blocks for the 3/16 Robart pin hinges as well.

004.jpg Hopefully this will give idea of what I hope to do

Sorry about the delay, but got em out and checked em, yes 61mm at the tip, although for some reason one of my wings is now 63mm, i don't think 2mm should make much difference over 82" lol

After looking at mine again (not seen it for a couple of weeks) I really wish I could just scrap it and start again, b ut its too close to the line now, but I may invest in another kit from slec once this one is done and try again

Can I just ask if this is the SLEC Stampe, or the original Precedent model, I know you said you got the model on Ebay.

Cheers

Danny

Inaccurate plans and cut parts have put many people off building from plans, it nearly put me off building. it took some time trolling around to find out who did accurate plans, hence accurate cut parts. I think a few companies have seen this hand have revised things and i hope this is so in this case, is it an old Precedent kit ?

stiff upper lip, keep going and you shall overcome and have a nice flying model in the end.teeth 2

Today roughed up the elevator and stabiliser with the Robart 3/8" pin hinges. I do the holes before the final sanding so the holes don't move. Also I have the Robart drilling jig which makes things so much easier. The elevator joiner is also roughed in and fits well.

006.jpg All hinges line up well

007.jpg The control horn should be well hiddenin the fuselage but we'll see.

010.jpg Lots of down, no binding

011.jpg Lots of up too

Nice looking dash!

Mine is also the original Precedent kit and I know exactly what you mean, i must have remade about 60% of the parts including a lot of wing ribs, and like I said in an earlierpost, watch out for those cabane wires, mine were nowhere near correct and I didn't check them before fitting and building up around them, now the top wing sits at a funny angle to the tailplane, which is fixable with blocks under the mounting but not ideal.

I notice you have made the tips from block on the stab, mine told me to laminate up using 3/16th strip

photo (4).jpgphoto (3).jpgHi i just came across your build, I started my Precedent Stampe 5 weeks ago, its a new kit from Sussex Modles

Hi I just came across your build, I started my Precedent Stampe about 5 weeks ago, it’s a new kit from Sussex Models and I’m having problems with parts not fitting properly. I’ve only made the fuselage so far and this took ages to line up and get right, the instructions are VERY basic.

I’ve just ordered a new under carriage from Falcon I had already made the piano wire one but I’ll remove this a replace it with the new one. I’ll also double check the cabane wires and make sure it all lines up now before I go any further.

I’ll post more pics as I progress, but seeing yours I have a full cockpit and one of those Hanger 9 pilots.

Great work on the build blog so fate I must say you are a fast builder
