ps > ... didn't even know that Hyundai had a F1 car, John... blush

Thanks Cris! As for the Hyundai F1 car, I think they're struggling to get it to meet the current regulations, so its debut may be delayed by a year or two (or three or...)

But I'm sure they're working on it and my efforts test driving it on (half) the circuit will not have been wasted... teeth 2

Great result, John!thumbs up My startegy didn't go quite to plan though.....sad

Not the greatest of races tbh, but one of the most stressful - for both Lewis and me....teeth 2

Hoping to resume normal service sometime soon,

Pete

... normal service is about to resume soon now, Pete.

After FP1, it already seems like it, I guess.

Do the Reds - both Scuderia & Bulls - have a slight problem or are they both 'sandgagging' for real? ...

Anyhow, gents... DON'T FORGET YOUR PREDICTIONS...

Cheers

Chris

Well, well, well... FP2 is now in progress and it seems Hamilton has hit the wall exiting turn 9. "Some damage to the floor," according to Mercedes, and mentions of a possible gearbox change.

Meanwhile Max Verstappen has also been taking lumps out of the scenery, with a bit of contact at the Wall of Champions.

So, who's going to predict what tomorrow? I'll put some predictions in now, but I'll be prepared to change them in light of further information on damage to Lewis's car and the FP3 times tomorrow. (FP3 is on from 4 to 5pm UK time.)

Remember it's a late start, with Montréal being 5 hours behind the UK, so qualifying starts at 7pm UK time tomorrow with the race at 7:10pm on Sunday.

Now, whilst I go and review my secret in-car footage from my test (half) lap last summer, I'll leave you with the customary reminder - and remember no excuses, as Chris has already reminded you all once!

Don't forget your predictions!

12 Flying Eagles Gary Goodfellow 114
13 Essex Racing Tony Clark 97
14 Torque of the devil Stu 94
15 teewrex John Tee 91

Top scorer today is Robin with 161. Eight points back on 153 is Iqon, and John S is a further 2 points back on 151.

Well done to you all.

A few pace changes today at the top, and also near the foot of the table;

Pos Gain/loss Team Manager Pts
1 +1 Roos Racers rk295ELITE 1049
2 -1 Pitts Specials john stones 1046
3 +2 iqon racing iqon 990
4 -1 PSS Power Flyer 988
5 -1 GASTON Formula Chris McG 959
6 - Revers Racing Pete B 958
7 - Norfolk Flyers Kevin Fairgrieve 948
8 - AnyoneSeenBernie johnpflyrc 943
9 - Flying Eagles Gary Goodfellow 907
10 - Team Webby Racing Simon Webb 829
11 - AeroArrows Bondaero 800
12 +1 Team Charles Picd Charles Pic 768
13 -1 Essex Racing Tony Clark 743
14 - Torque of the devil Stu 721
15 - teewrex John Tee 649

Robins win today takes him to top place overall, but only 3 points ahead of John S.

Iqon moves up 2 places to second, at the expanse of Flyer and Chris, who slip to 4th and 5th.

Further down the table Charles moves ahead of Tony into 12th.

So, disappointing that the result hinged on a stewards' decision. I have some sympathy for Seb in that once he'd left the track he was a bit of a passenger in what followed so didn't have much option in how he returned to the track. However, it was his mistake that led to him cutting the corner and retaining his lead afterwards, so maybe it couldn't be overlooked... I wouldn't be surprised though if his behaviour after the finish earns him more penalties of some sort.

Anyway, on to France now in 2 weeks time!

Well done Robin, happy with my score.

Seb fluffed his lines, he and ferrari would have complained had it been tother way around, funny though. face 1

I wonder what will come of Ferrari’s “right of review” appeal tomorrow, and if they somehow have Vettel reinstated as race winner in Canada, will the fantasy F1 league results get updated?

Meanwhile the French GP is upon us. A fairly enjoyable track from what I remember last year, but not exactly an overtaking-fest

I would wonder if the FIA stewards are going to accept the fact that they were 'wrong' in the first place, even with a Belgian guy among them. wink

I'm not a Vettel fan, but for me it was a 50/50 situation, ie. a 'race incident'.

Regarding Le Castellet, weather seems to become quite 'warm', especially on Sunday. Maybe even Mr Steiner might be able to bring the Haas tires into the right window? ...

Iris, my partner & I are leaving sunny Belgium for Gran Canaria on Sunday noon, so will be unable to watch the race... crying

Cheers

Signing in from the campsite at Paul Ricard. I vowed that I'd not come back after last year but a cheap ticket offer in April tempted me. Unfortunately it seems ticket sales have collapsed and they're now offering 40% off....

Apparently they're expecting just 1000 camping units this year, 2000 fewer than last year. Wrong circuit, wrong place and the public seem to have let them know. Pity they have a 5 year contract...sad

I made the 2km walk from the campsite across the unforgiving roughly-cleared Provencal scrubland in about 28C today (and that's just to reach the nearest gate!) and joined the throng on the pitwalk. The wheel-changing at Mercedes needs sharpening up before Saturdaysmile

Anyway, predictions made so may the best man win!

Bonne chance, everyone!smile p

Bonsoir Pete!

We're expecting a stellar performance from your team this weekend as you're on site with access to inside information... smile d So don't let us down, and we'll expect some decent tips from you too - before predictions close, of course!

I've just remembered... The Circuit Paul Ricard is the one with those crazy stripy lines painted all over the run-off areas, the ones that make your eyes water and head spin if you're not careful.

So try not to get too many of those in any photos you post! nerd

Right then... Time for the customary reminder;

Don't forget your predictions!

As weve already been discussing, we're in France this weekend with Pete keeping an eye on things for us. Ferrari's challenge against their penalty in Montréal has been thrown out and Mercedes seems to doing quite well in practice. So get those predictions in!
