Hi to all,

Well, after my Monaco debacle - not being able to connect to the net to have at least an idea of the FP sessions - I can only be glad with my Montréal score.

Mind you, with only 3 predictions right, there is still scope for some improvement. wink

Congrats to John - without his 'plot' - and to Ade making Iqon very envious...

I guess Le Castellet could bring up some surprises to the F1 teams and their lack of useful data.

Anyhow "Vive le Ricard" as it is the French equivalent of the beloved Ouzo... angel

Cheers

Chris

Right then! We're back in Europe this weekend, and it's a return to the Circuit Paul Ricard for the first time since 1990. Back then it was Alain Prost who won, who is it going to be this weekend?

Lewis has topped both P1 and P2, by almost 3 tenths of a second in P2. Qualifying is at 3pm UK-time, with the race at 3:10pm on Sunday.

I leave you with one final thought for tonight...

Don't forget your predictions!

Greetings from a very hot and sunny Paul Ricard! I have to say, though, that the organisation in and around the track is just as bad as the reported traffic chaos outside. I was planning to meet two friends with stand seats who left Cassis at 0930hrs today and finally reached the car park at 1800hrs this evening - didn't bother going into the track so came back to the camper for a BBQ. They're not even going to attempt getting here tomorrow and will be leaving for the track very early Sunday morning!

Anyway, a couple of pics to whet the appetite or otherwise. Firstly, Lewis's Merc being pushed to his pit Thursday afternoon:

Secondly, I think this track should come with a health warning for those prone to fitting. All spectator areas are a massive distance from the track - can you spot the car?:

Better get off and do my predictions!smile p

Evening Pete! I suspected you might be going...

The second shot is, err.... interesting! Did they get a job-lot of red and blue paint that was going cheap somewhere? I hope the entire circuit isn't like that!

It is, John! A tad harsh on the eyes, I now know what an LSD trip must feel like 😁

The results are now up on Fantasygp, but as channel 4 has not yet shown the race I'll leave posting the results until later - probably around midnight.

Thanks, iqon, makes up for the Canada glitchsmile p

There is NO truth in the rumour that I was seen shortly before lap 48 bunging Charlie Whiting wads of Euros with 'VSC' scribbled on them - the fact that I ended up with 10 pts for that prediction is purely coincidental, I assure you!wink 2

Not all good news though - I had a long, long walk back to the campsite in the rainstorm that followed the race, which destroyed my MIfi dongle which I'd foolishly placed in the rucksack - they're not designed for a ducking, clearly.....crying 2

Pete - without that VSC we'd have swapped scores! I was sitting quite happily on 1 safety car before the 10 points for it evaporated in front of my eyes... Are you sure there's no truth in the rumour? smile p

Ah, the fickle hand of fate, eh, John?teeth 2

I'd seen how those tarmac run-offs don't quite do the same job as kitty litter and there seemed to be a few drivers over the weekend who were tempted to push the envelope, thinking they'd just drive out of the ensuing skid. They didn't always!

Hang in there, it might all go pear-shaped for me in the next fortnight.....smile o

Well after a top score in Montréal, my lowest points of the season in Ricard territory.

The Red Baron acting like Mad Max in the first corner ruined both my team points and predictions. no

Sure those Silberpfeils are strong again, but that way Lewis just had a 'Sunday walk down the straight'.

... and pretty sure that the Whiting chap grabbed Pete's Euros as that made me loose another 10 points. sad

Congrats anyway, Pete.

Cheers

Chris

Mustn't forget a congrats to Yorik, always a confidence boost to get a win from further down the tablethumbs up

John S is a bit quiet - I think I know exactly how he is feeling - lots of 'what ifs'....smile

Could have done without the Mad Max antics too, Chris - didn't help with my other predictions!

Friday evening of another Grand Prix weekend and it's Austria this time. And in Red Bull's homeland Mercedes seem to have the edge in P1 and P2 with Ferarri and RB mixing up 3rd to 6th places.

So, the customary reminder;

Don't forget your predictions!

We're back to the earlier, later, European time of 2pm for qualifying and 2:10pm for the race on Sunday (UK time) Anybody know why France was so late last weekend? I did think 2pm/2:10pm was to be the new standard time for races in Euroland this season... Looks like channel 4 have live coverage (as well as Sky) this weekend.

Someone on the campsite said that it might have been something to do Tv schedules clashing with a game of footy somewhere - England v Panama. Why they couldn't alter the time of the footy instead I don't know - it made for a very long day in the heat.....sad
