Have you tried simply putting Mustang RAF into Google? There are hundreds of schemes 'out there' and that will bring up thigs for you to make your own choice

lol - that was the first thing I tried - most of what I got was the A or B versions not the D which is what Im looking for. Those I did find of the D were either all the same aircraft or virtually the same markings. Oh well I will try and narrow down the search. Thanks anyway

This type of thing? I just searched for P51D and then patiently waded through the pics.

Don't forget that the -D was the Mk IV in RAF service - might be another useful filter

thanks guys - the reason I posted was that Im building one of those Guillow's kits to get some practice in building again. Im coming close to covering it but was looking to see if I could do an RAF version instead of US. Most of the US ones are some variation on silver - not bad in itself but I also need to relearn painting them and mainly one colour doesnt really challenge one to much (though Im sure someone will dispute that :) ). Thanks again - Ive now got plenty to look up.

always a pleasure

I did see a few Canadian colour schemes on airlines.net and even an Israeli one.

Let us know what you come up with

just thought, you could have a look at the unlimited racers at the Reno air races, anything goes :) unless you are after a scale finish

Now that's pretty almost enough to make me want to build one just to paint it.

Hi Antony

I have a booklet that I found and purchased from a stall at show in my early modelling days on the P51. The text is in japanese but most of the photos are in colour.

It contains a number profile colour schemes. If you let me know the sort of scheme you are interested in, I could either scan it or send you a colour photocopy if this would help.

Cheers

nice - I shall probably give this one to my young granddaughter. Despite being only 15 months old she pays a lot of attention to my planes - so to make it a little stronger for her Ive just decided to sheet it all. Im not making it as a flying model though - that she will have to wait for - hehe

I am building my 2nd Fiber Classics 1/4 scale version and want to do a RAF Mk iv in camouflage scheme. I know that No 19 Sqn flew some in that scheme and have a side view airborne shot but I am not sure of the plan view pattern for that period. Anyone any ideas? Later on it seems that they remained in overall silver scheme e.g. No 234 Sqn.
