img_20180112_205234[1].jpgJust some pics before final assembly. Some electronics installed before fuselage joining.

Anyone find it comes out nose heavy?

Looking good but not sure if the Lipo will need to go that far forward.

Not sure if you know, the cg on the plan is the old position, its better to set the cg at 90mm.

Finally. my build has started. So far so good but its gonna be a slow build because I work away from home for two weeks at a time plus I'm taking my time to try and eliminate mistakes and get a good finished result. Pics to follow.

Steady (slow) progress here. That thing called work keeps getting in the way.....

I planned on using a 40mm aeronaut spinner, but I was not happy with the fit to the model. The spinner nosecone and backplate have different tapers, which did not sit well on the model. Also, the 40mm diameter was fractionally too big for my front end - it overhung the side by about 0.25mm top and bottom. Perhaps I made the front former a bit too small!

I ordered a 38mm areonaut spinner. the nosecone and backplate have a more constant taper. The size & fit suited the model much better...

Thanks! I'm at the fitting electronics stage now. Still some sanding/shaping to do, and then covering. Hopefully be ready for late spring & summer weather.

Very nice Jason. I was just doing a bit of work on my redeagle. Getting ready to run the snakes for the tail feathers before I sheet the top deck.

What power train are you using?

Heading to my LHS in the morning to hopefully obtain a spinner and folding prop set so I can shape the nose of my red eagle.

Plus a 30A esc.

Its nearly finished!

Just a few jobs left:

- Make some graphics for the fin & nose

- Install receiver & program radio

- Install flight pack & set CG

- Fly!

Colour scheme borrowed from this thread albiet with a few small changes (think it was one of Ton's clubmates schemes).

Weight without battery: 684g

Thanks to Ton for a nice easy design.

Thanks also to Andy for his assistance!

Jason , your welcome and thank you for building the RedEagle.

You did a great job it's a beauty.

Set the CG on 90mm the RedEagle will fly at its best.

Cheers, Ton

Hi everyone on this build, I have watched a lot of the postings with great interest. Its a nice looking aero-plane/glider. Has anyone brought out a kit for the RedEagle yet? I rather fancy one of these but at 77 years old, I do not think I would have the patience to start another build. I have got a Cub to re-build, a 1960s Ugly Stik on the building board, by Phil Kraft plus a Phil Kraft Kwik Fli 3, all vying for my time.

Mind you, if there is a pre-cut kit of the model, I might just talk myself into it!!!!!

Regards to all Red Eagle fliers.

Anthony.
