That looks very tidy, John. Well done!

I am back to finishing this one off before the Chippie build starts, I want to add rib tapes to the wings.

My question is, do the tapes only go on full ribs and not on the riblets (leading edge to mainspar) the images I have found don't make it clear.

Thanks John

In a word, no, the riblets are on the top surface i.e. they are only part ribs , unlikely to have been stiched and taped and for heavns sake , put an engine in it ! winklaugh

I like the look of that John, the Nieuport 17 is a real classic in the same way as the Camel. I look forward to seeing that when you've finished it.

When I've tidied my work area up I will put some photo's on, then I can benefit from the knowledge on here. It's been a favourite of mine since I flew the Flair legionnaire years ago

Lots of different country's flew these, so there are loads to choose from. Found some more images that show rib tapes a little better. What do you think to the German one at the bottom ? a bit plain maybe but I like it.

cowl 003.jpgcowl 002.jpgStill doing this one, I am glad it's been held up for a while because watching the builds on here has shown me how to do the control runs for elevator etc. It will still be no masterpiece but may be a bit better than I normally manage.

Was it your choice to build the cowl like that? I like that!!

Do they not supply a metal cowl in the kit?

Watching with interest john I still have a D7 to finish 3years since I last touched it. DOH!!!

Hi Dave, yes I chose to build it, the bought cowls where a little too shallow (engine would have stuck out and looked daft) and I intend to paint it anyway.
