The plane in the top pic has already been stripped and it needs alot of work..... had to remove the nose section back to the wing and the tail section had to come of completely.

A few damaged areas to the wings to but nothing drastic!

This is what i am left with...........dsc_0257.jpg

The trainer looks like a Bowman's Models Skyman, or maybe a Galaxy Magician.

I can't shed much light on the glider though!

Happy building wink

Pete

Pete, the Magician was a low winger. Your probably thinking of a Galaxy Escort. Very, very similar to the Bowmans Skyman. Too similar infact and thereby hangs a tale of past copyright battles.

Hi Pete, googled the names you mentioned and the first is very similar but the. Rudders wrong, and the second just shows a low winger?

WF, you won't get much about the Galaxy Escort. After the court case, which Bowmans won and got substantial damages, was withdrawn from sale. All this must be approx 30 years ago.

The trainer is almost certainly a Bowden Super Skyman if memory serves me correctly. The first ever model I built and a great flier, the kit came with the covering to!

Get her back in the air!

Rich

I vaguely remember a bit of a spat involving the two ipswich shops. Am I right in thinking that there was a glider it two involved too?

Looks like a smaller rookie to me too. I had one 40 years ago, flew well until I put an OS15 on the front. After that it didn't have the performance of either the cox powered one or the Pilot QB 15 H the engine came from. In those days I treated planes as disposable, great fun but I would not do it now.

My Rookie 84" still has a blowout once in a while. It's a fab, pretty solid 2ch glider.  I think I've also got the Bowman mini skyman in my Mother's garage.  I bought it of an old neighbour for £5 complete with OS engine but have never flown it and never knew what it was called and who made them.

I think you mean Bowmans. Bowmans was a model shop in Ipswich that made the kits.

Bowden was way back in the late 40s 50s.
