You've reminded me Peter! Saturday lunchtime(ish) I think, 4 small aircraft in formation flew over the house. Almost certainly Vans RV(somethings) but as you say, not easy to identify from underneath!

I have now identfied it as an RV-4. I know who the owner is after serch all the RV-3 and RV-4 registrations.

I think that there is a team of RVs that fly from North Weald. They have been flown past a couple of years ago

4 Vans RVs in formation sounds like Mark Jeffries and the Global Stars team to me.

They fly from Little Gransden BTW, although I believe they've upgraded the aircraft this year.

I was up at our flying field today, where a member drew my attention to a very large transport aircraft, that apparently had come out of Blackpool.

It was not one that either of us recognised, being a "T" tail and propeller driven. Both of us were aware that it was large.

perhaps what we could not comprehend is why it was flying circuits perhaps 3, and that its climb out was not very impressive. I could only surmise that it was heavily loaded. After a time it just disappeared, as far as we were concerned having lost interest.

Any ideas?

Hmmmm, could well be, in that case it probably came out of Warton.

If that what it was, it is big, it was suggested that it was a Russian, cargo contract haulier. I did wonder what possibly there would be in Blackpool of the size necessary that justified the hire of such a large aircraft.

Erf it looks v much like C17 with very swept wings but if low enough engine noise and props gives it away ! Colin

Very disappointing weather forecast for Bournemouth today. Lets hope it clears enough to get something into the air!

And yesterday was a perfect day for the Air Festival.

The Brietling Stearman pair went over nice and low last weekend.

Pitts G-EWIZ has been over a few times lately, sadly has not done his display routine directly over our house again.

We get a lot of regulars - the Staverton training aircraft - DR400, 172/152?, several flavours of light heli that I don't recognise; the local air ambulance (Eurocopters) are out all the time. The Archer (or is it Cherokee) based at Ledbury comes over regularly too. The other regulars are the Hercs, too, often very low, and Chinooks.

Now I come to mention it its surprisingly active around these parts. I think the civvy pilots do sightseeing over the Malverns. The Hercs (I assume) are practising low runs over the Cotswolds, past us and on toward Brecons way.

Andrew if it was a A400m, it sounded like a propeller aircraft. As to did it have a distinctive whine, not that I noticed. I guess it was intended to be as quite as possible?

Could well be Erfolg. I've just had a quick search on youtube but the footage I selected is of Farnborough and it cant be heard much over the commentary.

Talking about noise. Something very low, very fast and very noisy came over during the week. I do wish the pilots would give me a ring and heads up warning (No pun intended). The same applies to whoever it was sitting behind an energetically flown Merlin. A couple of days ago. Clearly heard, very close, but not seen. Mutter Mutter. face 5

Took a photo & will upload onto our forum. Taken with 300 zoom lens 😎

Well these four planes flew over not my house but plenty of others and Epsom Downs race course where a number of us EDMAC members were flying our model planes. Not only did they fly over at a very low level but straight over our pits---do these guys know the rules?

Firstly the B17 Sally B, then minutes later two Vampire jets and then a B25 Mitchell. An excellent free show !

Mike - the things I miss whilst stuck in the office all week!

Sally B flew over my house at very low level (and probably over the Downs too) on probably this weekend last year - heading I think for the bank holiday weekend airshow at Dunsfold. All the aircraft you mentioned are listed for Dunsfold this weekend, so we may see them over the Downs again today and tomorrow, though it looks like they may be based at Dunsfold for the weekend rather than flying in each day.

Also the Turbulent team are listed - I don't know if they'll have 4 aircraft after one took a swim at Herne Bay two weeks ago. Good news is that the pilot who ditched is fine and is reported to be flying at Dunsfold.
