Couldn't get any text on the post. Just happen to be overlooking Croyde Bay working my way back home after an epic bike ride and heard a noise to my right. Assuming it's a C130 or similar.

So I was just relaxing in my armchair, perusing the latest RCME mag just delivered, and reading about the EFlite V22 Osprey when an unusaul aircraft sound outside made me look up to see a full size Osprey reefing round the corner of the valley and flying straight over the house at a couple of hundred feet.

Yesterday it was an A400M at the same height or possibly lower heading the other way. It's usually Hawks from Valley or Hercules or Chinooks (at treetop height). Our valley is one of the routes out to the tactical manoevering area in mid-Wales and the Mach Loop. They use different valleys in rotation it seems, and it's obviously our turn this week. Even if I have a camera or phone to hand I'm never quick enough as by the time your hear them they're overhead. Great fun though.

B-52s today from Fairford. And some helicopters, possibly Merlins, I'm not too sure on the rotary stuff.

Last night, B2 Spirits came overhead although I didn't actively see them, they were reported in the paper (callsign "DEATH" according to the local rag).

En route to Georgia, I believe, part of Nato show of strength on Russia's doorstep. And I thought the cold war was over...

I live close to the old Severn bridge. Above me is one of the main air corridors for aircraft leaving and returning to this country. On a day like today ,clear blue skies I would normally see lines of con trails. Today was quite remarkable because I did actually see one.

East Kent Romney Marsh Margins

Just one con-trail at breakfast time heading East towards the Dover VOR! That's all for the day. Normally the sky would be criss-crossed with trails into and out of Gatwick & Heathrow. Usually plent of light traffic to and from Lydd Airport, today silence!

I looked on Flightradar tracker at 5 o'clock yesterday and there were less than 30 aircraft showing for the whole of the UK. There were no aircraft showing at Gatwick, 2 at Stanstead and only 5 at Heathrow, 1 of which was military and 3 were cargo.

The only things I have seen locally for the last few weeks has been some F15S which come over fairly regularly and a Osprey the other day.

Seems really strange to see the sky so empty.

I'm about 15 miles from Heathrow and I'm one of the people who provide data to Flightradar24.

My receiver is currently able to see TWO aircraft in the area. One is at 35,000 feet, the other at 15,000 and climbing so neither are heading from or to LHR or LGW. Normally I'd be seeing around 20 or 30 aircraft at this time of day.
