Hi all,

My EB is very, very slowly coming along.

Heres a few pics so you can see my rear control surface linkages and how I set them up (without the horns glued in obviously). I still need to fit a motor and just finish of the covering in a few spots, mainly the front window and 'cowl'. If you notice any visible wood in the pics, I will just be touching it up with a bit of white paint.

Sorry if my pics seem to be repeating themselves but I can assure you, there is a small amount of progress being made. Hopefully she'll be completed in a few weeks or so.

I finally got back to my EB smiley

I've wired it all up but it looks like I'm going to need a bigger battery for balance.

I'm hoping to get a quick maiden in on Sat or Sun but that will only happen if I get a few minor problems sorted.

Sorry, no pics but I'm hoping that I'll have some vid soon yes

Alrighty then.....................

My EB is just about done, only problem is that I have paid a price for trying to keep it light sad

I pretty much stuck to the plan albeit with a wing extension of a couple of inches and the tail control surface linkages, nothing that I thought would make a great deal of difference.

My issue now is with the balancing. With a 1000Mah as far forwards as possible in the nose, she thinks she's a rocket (wants to point straight up vertical) when balanced on the plans COG. Even with a larger 2200Mah in there, it makes very little difference!

I might be able to get a bit closer by using a heavy spinner and heavier wheels but the amount needed seems excessive to me. Admittently, I have not weighed her yet so I don't know how close it is to the plan AUW but after adding some 'dead weight' to it, it needs about 230g (total weight) to balance out on the marks. I can put a heavier 2200 in there but that will mess up my 'clean asthetics' intention and will require some unwelcome bodywork angry

Has anyone else had a problem balancing?

anyway.......... I took her out for a ground handling spin and it went well. All control surfaces operate without to much fuss and obviously some have very excessive movement but I will tame them down before its maiden.

Here are a couple of pics before I took her for a spin.....................

Hmm, strange Ross, well, the CG can come back a tad and it should be pretty light so the you could just try adding something at the nose for the first few flights. Your model looks pretty special though, puts my building in the shade smile

Thanks for the reply and kind words David smiley

Considering your AUW was around 14oz (540g), I'm sure mine is going to be heavier sad I really need to weigh it.

Unfortunately it is looking highly unlikely that I will get a maiden done this weekend unless I sort it out beforehand.

I will post a vid once it's done.

On a side note.......... I have always found balancing to be a funny thing. In most of my scratchbuilt models, the airframes have come out reasonably light and when I've added the battery (200 g), they get a 'heavy' feel to the hand and I'm always sure that they have then become to heavy, yet, most times, they are fine, so I guess I'm just going to have to wait and see.

Thanks again, yes

So......today I gave the EB a quick weigh. I've added bigger tires and sat the larger 2200 in the front.

It comes much closer to balancing on the marks but.........

It comes in with an AUW of 750g (26.5oz)!

So if I take out the battery, it will be a bit closer to yours David.

The weather is looking a bit uncomfortable for a maiden tomorrow, it is 40C at the moment and is forecast for 40C tomorrow (Sunday) with tonights temp staying at 27C. We'll see......
