I started like most of us, saving my pocket money for a Keil Kraft kit that was built and never flew well if at all. Then moved on to free flight gliders which after I learned about trimming flew far too well - I never did find a couple of them. Then one day the local club came to do a talk at my school. I went up to the club strip the following Saturday and I was hooked. That was 35 years ago! The club used to fly from the old Gloster airfield behind ICI Fibres just outside Gloucester. A full size runway and lots of grass areas. - I believe it has houses on it now. Lots of slopes to fly from too so if it was windy, up to Haresfield or Selsey Ridge and if not, power flying at the airfield.
So many years of experience building all sorts of flying machines from kits or plans. Flight experience is not quite as extensive, as I'm back to the hobby after quite a while and still a bit rusty, but I will get there again.
Married with two grown up kids and two grandchildren, living in Ipswich and a member of both Ipswich and Mid Suffolk flying clubs.
