Grew up with model planes as my dad was mad keen. Had a reed set in '67, it was certainy tricky trying to learn to fly with it on your own! So dad funded a Simprop digi 5 (must have been equivalent to buying half a car), but I lost interest at age 18. In 2004 I returned to the fold model making and flying. Was a Project Manager with a team of designers in R&D until the department was closed as the work moved abroad. Then worked in a technical advisory role in a slightly different industry. Now retired but after a bout of ill health I'm still struggling a bit to get used to the idea of retirement, feel I'm either on sick leave or holiday. Building is more important than flying but one doesn't go without the other. I like anything that flies apart from 'copters and multi-rotors, love Old Warden full size displays. Used to be local club secretary but health problem stopped this for a while, but I'm an active committee member. I build mainly sport/ semi scale sport. I'm also one of Peter Miller's 'disciples', but never keep to plan as I always change things to how I want them. I have a cat that is not interested in catching anything but likes to watch dvd's of birds on his laptop (he's my avatar).
