first look..... - 21/9/11
Two new models from Seagull have just gone on sale in the UK and they're the first gliders (granted one is a motor glider) from a manufacturer that, until now, has remained firmly in the i.c. and electric club/sport power market.
The company has gathered a solid repuration in recent years based on models that are strong, well made and covered so beautifully well that few manufacturers have managed to match the quality - so it'll be interesting to see how they manage in this new category. Both subjects are balsa/ply affairs and Oracover finished so, for many, a welcome departure from the increasingly widespread adoption of EPO foam.
First up is a 118" (3m) span Pilatus B4 that includes airbrakes, requires 7 servos and should weigh in at the 6lb (2.4-2.6kg) mark.
It's joined by a pretty design they've called Seagull 2000, a 2.2lb (1kg), 78" (2m) t-tail'er ready for a 400 or 480-size brushless outrunner and 3 servos.
They're attractively priced at £189.99 and £119.99 respectively, available through most model shops and distributor J.Perkins' website has more info.
