The new Blizzard from Multiplex has just arrived in the UK. Designed for speed, this keenly awaited V-tail hotliner is made from a very tightly moulded and smooth Elapor foam which has resulted in greater rigidity of wings, tail and fuselage compared to previous models from the company.
As we’ve come to expect from Multiplex, it’s a clever piece of design that looks to have been beautifully engineered and made. The stresses imposed by high speed flight is evident in the plastic re-inforcement pieces at the nose, one-piece wing and tail while the spinner has a fan built in at the rear with which to improve the flow of cooling air over the motor.
Two power sets are available separately – ‘Standard’ and ‘Tuning’ which is a high performance option. Both employ brushless outrunner motors – the standard power set uses a Himax 3510-1100 and a 37amp ESC while ‘Tuning’ has a Himax 3516-1350 with a 54amp ESC. Both versions include a folding prop and adaptor and retail at around £85 and £110 respectively. The suggested battery for both versions is a 3s 2100mAh or 2500mAh Li-Po battery while four micro servos do the pushing and shoving – A full review will appear in RCM&E very soon.
